Let’s face it. In today’s day and age, it is so much easier to get caught up in things that break our marriage vows. Pastor Craig cited that there are more temptations today than in the past and I couldn’t agree more. He shared a stat that of recent divorces, 20% of them cited Facebook as the culprit. It’s certainly not Facebook’s fault that people are “catching up” with old high school flames and jumping into full-blown adulterous affairs. But, it is definitely an avenue.
He read from Ephesians 5:3 which says:
“But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.”Not a hint, people. Not one single hint. Yet we, people, do it every single day. We think it’s innocent to flirt with someone at the office, but it’s not. We think it’s not big deal to listen to songs that have racy lyrics, but it is. We think it’s someone else’s problem if they can’t handle it when we wear clothes that are too tight or reveal too much, but it’s not. We think it’s fine to read Fifty Shades of Grey (aka “Mommy Porn”) and think it won’t affect us. We are wrong. It will.
NOT even a hint of sexual immorality.
Not EVEN a hint of sexual immorality.
Not even A hint of sexual immorality.
Not even a HINT of sexual immorality.
And when you do see a hint or are even engaged in that hint, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 tells us this:
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.Flee doesn’t mean gradually walk away. Nor does it mean to nonchalantly turn your back and try to ignore it. Flee means to “run away from danger” or to “hurry toward a place of security.”
